Hello and welcome to the StreetScene Addiction Recovery website.

Our aim is to help people who suffer from addiction to alcohol or drugs such as heroin or crack cocaine overcome their problems and go on to lead the lives they want without the need to use. Despite the many myths there are around addiction and recovery we have seen many hundreds of people recover from this disease and go on to lead happy and fulfilled lives without needing to use.

To meet this aim we have three rehabilitation centres providing abstinence based recovery programmes, day programmes and reintegration programmes, we also have further accommodation providing resettlement programmes and ongoing aftercare programmes, all designed to help people at different stages of recovery to move forward to their next goal.

Part of the rehabilitation process is to help people not only overcome their addiction but also to help and support them as they move back into society. In order to do this we provide help and support in areas such as finding and maintaining a home, budgeting, food and nutrition, education and employment, building and maintaining healthy relationships and introduction to self help organisations.

Another part of rehabilitation from addiction is learning to have fun when abstinent from all mood altering chemicals. Fun is a very important part of life, so we are constantly arranging different outward bound trips or other activities to help people get some fun back into their lives. Either by ourselves or working with other organisations we aim to provide days out, camping trips, bar-b-cues, cycling trips, fun days, and activity days of all different types, we also have links with local football teams (Sunday league) and drama groups. This year we were also part of the first Bournemouth Recovery Walk, where 200 people in Recovery walked pier-to-pier to raise awareness of recovery. This was followed by lunch in the park with music and stories and a party in the evening. We intend to do this again in 2012.
